Frequently Asked Questions

We think that doty® is the most simplest little tool in the world for marking the perfect position to hang your wall art.

Just in case, we’ve tried to preempt some obvious questions below, if you need any further assistance then you can drop us an email at hello@dotyhanger.com

1). How does doty® work?

The concept is very simple;

You take a pointer, prime with doty® juice (ink) from the well in the base and stick the pointer to the wall art fixing. You position the item on the wall where desired and press! Remove the wall art and if the steps have been followed correctly and you’ve pressed hard enough, there will be a mark on the wall in the perfect position to screw or tap your fixing into!

2). What fixings will doty® work with?

doty® can literally be used on ANY style wall fixing, from D rings, string, serrated profiles, keyholes or two fixings. Just remember that the doty® pointer needs to be positioned where the wall fixing needs to align and then style or type of wall art fixing is irrelevant.

You could even attach it to the end of a pole or underside of a bathtub if you needed to mark a position for a fixing or fastening.

3). How do the doty® pointers stick to things?

The underside of the pointers are fitted with ‘tacky-tape’ a revolutionary gel style tape that has a repeatable usability. It will however lose its ‘tackyness’ after some use, but here is the AMAZING thing. If you run the tape under hot water and wash with soap they return to there ‘like-new’ stickyness again and again!!

However, there are a few spares in the package when you buy a doty just to give you piece of mind.

4). How long will the ink last?

We have performed stringent testing, each doty® is very generously primed prior to dispatch and to date we have not experienced a single unit be able to perform under 500 dots over a long time period.

However, top up doty® juice is available in our store if ever required.

5). How accurate is the mini level on doty®?

A mini-bubble level is an excellent guide, but typically not accurate enough for precision leveling. However, the visual method of leveling is preferred by many as it results in the best visual “look” against the surrounding position of where the wall art is being positioned.

A full-size level is recommended for precision leveling, particularly for longer objects.
